Set on a four square kilometre private island, Nosy Ankao, off the northeast coastline, Miavana is the only genuinely top quality lodge on Madagascar. It shares ownership with Norman Carr Safaris, one of the oldest and most respected operators in the South Luangwa area of Zambia.
The lodge is centred on a very elegant main building, with lounge and dining areas, including an extensive wine cellar, rooftop bar and beach pizzeria, leading out to a lovely swimming pool above the beach.
Guest accommodation is in fourteen lavish villas come in one, two and three bedroom formats, with large lounge and bathroom areas, all leading out to a private terrace, a plunge pool and direct access onto the beach. In the larger units there is a completely separate building with a further bedroom and bathroom. All rooms have butler service.
Activities include snorkelling direct off the main beach, scuba diving, kayaking, paddle-boarding, kite-surfing, turtle hatching and whale-watching. Extensive spa treatments are available in your villa. It is also possible to undertake helicopter excursions to nearby islands and to the mainland for hiking and lemurs, as well as slightly longer day trips to Ankarana and Amber Mountain national parks for the unique tsingy rock formations and further lemur and chameleon species. All of these activities are included in the price.
