Mapula Lodge is a private concession slightly north of the renowned Vumbura concession in the Okavango Delta. It’s an approximately 40 minute flight from Maun. It’s name, “Mapula”, means goddess of rain, and the lodge is named after its owner, a local Motswana lady.

Guests at this Botswana safari lodge are accommodated in 10 luxury chalets each with small lounge and en-suite bathroom facilities (twin bath tub and outdoor shower). The accommodation is set on the edge of seasonal floodplains, overlooking a permanent lagoon complete with resident hippos. Enjoy the views with a drink from the deck while watching wild game pass by.

They offer unique adventure safaris, walking safaris, mokoro and motor launch excursions in the Okavango Delta, cultural interaction at an authentic village and day and night game drives with a guide and tracker. Game viewing is particularly good in this area, as is birdwatching. Expect to see African paradise flycatchers, wattled cranes, saddle-billed storks, brown snake eagles, wattled starlings, Meyer’s parrots, lesser grey shrikes, ostriches and carmine bee-eaters.

There is a swimming pool, running water, laundry service, large deck, sun loungers and deckchairs, open-air bar, dining area, lounge, small library and curio shop.
