Days 1-4

Arriving in Durban, you'll be transferred straight up into the Drakensburg Mountains. With its stunning natural surroundings, the lodge offers a tranquil escape and panoramic views.

During your stay

Three Tree Hill Lodge specialises in the history of the South African War, (2nd Anglo-Boer War 1899 – 1902) with the Battle of Spioenkop being the focal point. The guides will bring this dramatic period of history to life, presenting world class, holistic, evocative and insightful half and full-day tours.

Beyond the battlefields, the Drakensburgs are made for hiking, with a plethora of trails to follow. If you've walked enough you can also explore on horseback or mountain bikes.

Days 4-7

Phinda Private Game Reserve

This morning, you’ll be transferred to Phinda for start your safari. Your first stop will be the stunning Phinda Rock Lodge in the south of the private reserve for three nights of sublime safari.

Days 7-10

Phinda Private Game Reserve

Today, you’ll move to the north of the reserve for your final three nights on safari from the sister lodge, Phinda Vlei. An opportunity to explore a different area of the reserve.

During your stay

Phinda Private Game Reserve is renowned for its exceptional sightings of the elusive cheetah and the rare black rhino, as well as the Big Five. Head out on game drives or guided nature walks to see what you can find.

Days 10-13

iSimangaliso Wetland Park

After your safari you'll head up the coast to finish your holiday with four nights at Thonga Beach Lodge - a snorkelling and diving sanctuary.

During your stay

Beyond the breakers is a world of dolphins, whales and many other creatures, best experienced by snorkelling, scuba diving, or above water on boating excursions. Cultural and community tours are a great way to meet the locals or you can take a walk through the indigenous dune forest.

Between November and February you’ll have the chance to witness Loggerhead turtles make their way up the beach to nest.

Day 14

Departure

As your time in South Africa comes to an end, it’s time to fly back home. Don’t worry though, Africa has a way of calling you back, time and time again...
